Onion Rice with Eggs and tuna [28 Aug 2005|12:26pm]

[ mood | lazy ]

Hey y'alls,

lenity Gave me a good idea- we should share stuff we've recently made for meals and whatnot. So without further ado, I present to you:

Onion rice and Tuna
(I made this for dinner last night)
You need:

-Cooked white rice
-One white onion
-Eggs (optional)
-One can of tuna
-Soy Sauce
-Olive oil

Pour some olive oil into a fry pan and let it heat up (set to about med-hi). Chop up some onions (if ya like em, add a lot, if ya don't, then just add a little bit for the flavor) and scoot 'em into the hot oil. Saute them till they just start to turn color, then add the egg. Scramble the egg and onion until the egg is cooked, then add the rice. Pour some soy sauce over the rice (be sure to mix it in really well between squirts because you don't wanna over-sauce your rice, then it just becomes gross) add enough so that when you mix it, everything is evenly brown (the rice will turn brown from the soy) You want it to be a light even brown all though out the rice.

Then, open a can of tuna (if ya wanna add other stuff to it go ahead, but I like mine plain) and add some to your plate.

I know it's sort of weird, but I like it ^_^

:O [27 Aug 2005|11:16am]

Hi! I just joined this community and I'm pleased that the theme is so positive! :D I'm all for eating healthy and I admit that I slip from time to time. But if there are people to encourage the effort, I'm all for it!

Let's see. I'll share my dinner that I made last night. :D

Mushroom Pasta (serves 2)

1 can - Campbell's Soup Cream of Mushroom (70 calories a serviing)
2 servings of Spaghetti (210 cal a serving)
7 Medium Mushrooms - (about 30 calories)

1 - Boil your spaghetti w/ some salt in the water. Drain and set aside.
2 - Slice and saute your mushrooms in a shallow pan in a teaspoon of olive oil. (Spice your mushrooms up w/ garlic and pepper or whatever else you prefer. :D)
3 - Add the can of Cream of Mushroom Soup.
4 - Using the empty soup can, add 1/4 - 1/2 of water (or milk~)
5 - Cook till creamy and even!
5 - Combine the cooked spaghetti and your yummy mushroom sauce.

Goes good w/ a topping of Mozarella or Parmesean (sp?) cheese and tomatoes. <333

So, that gives you roughly 310 Calories a serving w/out additions. So that's 15% of a 2000 calorie daily diet. :) (I live comfortably on 1000 calories a day so the percentage is larger for me. I'm a relatively small person. :D)

And question! Does anyone do home exercises in this community? I do yoga but I'm looking for something to do @ home that'll get my heart rate up faster and longer. (And I have no equippment.) Any ideas?

How to Make SUSHI !!! [01 Aug 2005|12:38am]

[ mood | devious ]

1) Short grain rice. Make it. Then take it out and fluff it up.

2) After making the rice (and fluffing/stirring it and letting it cool), add sushi vinegar. Or, if you don't have that, add sugar directly into rice vinegar. Sprinkle an assorted amount, enough to cover the rice. Stir, then let the rice cool. (ratio: 3 cups of rice to a 1/2 cup of vinegar)

3) Get salmon/tuna (or other), rinse the fish clean, and pat fish dry with clean paper towel. Place the plastic wrapped fish in the freezer for 30 minutes. Then take out and slice.

4) Moosh the rice into rectangular bits and put CLEANED (see step#3) raw fish on top. Or you can make a sushi pizza (flattening the rice on a large plate first, then putting sliced fish on top).

If you buy the fish and can't use it that day (also make sure you buy the fish FRESH as bad fish could end up with you and Salmonella/tape worms/etc. parasites having a dance party), put it in the freezer and wait BUT ONLY FOR 24 HRS!!!11one!

If you have anyother questions...ask ME!

Sometimes I wonder: [23 Jul 2005|02:33pm]

[ mood | Hooray to all of us. ]

1) Why anorexic or bulimic people don't exercise to lose weight as opposed to not eating or throwing it up. I'm not mocking anybody; I seriously wonder about this kind of thing.

I hear a lot about how celebrities exercise so much, it's actually considered unhealthy. So why don't they try that venue? It seems that even if it's unhealthy, it's a lot more healthy than starving or hurling. And it's highly effective and long-lasting.

2) What this "perfection" they're looking for is, and where they're seeing it, because I don't see it on anybody. What do they find beautiful about thinness?

3) Why sometimes, parents and friends even support this.

Things I'm proud of, about all of you and myself:

1) We've learned that to be healthy is even more highly effective than anything, and no matter our past, we are making sure our futures are healthy ones.

2) We've learned (either the hard or easy way) that to love oneself is golden, treasured, and perfect in every way.

3) We've learned that to forgive ourselves is the only way we can forgive others, and we are doing so, by varying degrees.

I'm proud of everyone who joined this community. Let's make sure it stays alive, because there are plenty of people out there who will harm themselves seriously, and I think we have a fighting chance to help them.

Peace and love.

P.S.: The questions for the "Sometimes I wonder" part ARE meant to be answered.

Hey guys-

So, if you've joined this lovely community, you should post some shiz, since we seem to be lacking in activity. And also, the below entry is quite niiiice, so we should contribute, 'cause what would be the shit.

If ya join and not post stuff, than that'd be sad. This community is here so we can be active and kick ass!

You can post fun food things, or stupid food poetry, or new food, or your favorite food, or ANYTHING.

Here is a little assignment for everyone! Tell us your favorite healthy snack that you enjoy and how to make it (if it needs to be prepared).

Peanut-butter and Banana on Toast with Milk

Toast one slice of bread, let cool for a little bit (I stick mine in the freezer so it doesn't take too long!) Spread the peanut butter (any kind will do, I use Simply Jiff because it has less sodium and sugar) Then cut a small banana in half and then long ways, place on toasted bread. Usually not all of the banana fits so I take a little extra peanut butter and put on the slice that doesn't fit and eat that too!! This I pour myself a glass of skim milk and Ta-Da!! Yummy-ness. In the correct amounts, peanut butter, peanuts, and other nuts are very good for you. The fats are much better than animal fats, plus they pack some protein and fiber. Almonds have antioxidants too.

Keep it real!

Zee Manifesto? [17 Jul 2005|12:53am]

Thanks for joining!

My name's Erin, I'm 17 and live in Seattle, WA . I had a bout with Anorexia about three years ago (I also had Moroccan food last night, and my GOD how freaking awesome it was!!). What a bitch she is. Total complete bitch. This community is the big F-U sign that I'd like to tape on the backs of all those thinspiration bullshit communities.

Thus far it seems to be a rather tiny bunch, but it's okay since we kick ass anyways. I really do hope we grow into a recognizable force, and I do hope that this community will help lots of people who have food/weight issues.

So anyway, last night I wrote this thing and It's a little long so I will put some under a cut, I don't know if I should post this to the info part but whatever. Without further ado:

"You have to take CARE of your body. Your body is like a pet- would you starve your own puppy? The pursuit of any human defined "perfection" is pointless, because we humans are NOT perfect. If we were perfect, the world wouldn't be how it is today. The lack of perfection in the world is what makes it so great. The imperfection of the world is what makes it diverse. And to enjoy that diversity is to accept the imperfection.

Certain people would say they starve themselves because they want to be 'In control.' I don't know if it's just me, but how can you be in control of something that you are a slave to? Willingly starving is not taking care of yourself, and it certainly shouldn't be considered a 'way of life' since it ends up killing you. What a load of horse cock. Goddamnit.

Heck yes!!! (more)Collapse )

I just joined this community a few seconds ago because I love what it stands for and I really hope it takes off. Healthy eating and maintaining a healthy weight (the correct way) are very important for the body and the mind.

This is the LJ user name that I created the other day to help me stay on track durring my new diet and for keeping track of the emotions associated with dieting.
Feel free to check out my other journal laundertoe

Greetings! [10 Jul 2005|03:15pm]

[ mood | ecstatic ]

Hello dears! I'm Allison, I'm 17 and I saw the disclaimer in riotnotdiet. I like food too and I love being healthy. My hobbies include running, watching movies, working outdoors, going to concerts, and cooking. My favorite foods are sushi and peanut butter. I love any kind of diet drink- all those new flavored ones are fun to try!!! I don't like people who aren't fair, which is hard in a world that isn't fair to begin with. I don't like popularity contest cliques, htey are too shallow and superficial. I am single and not really looking because love happens when you least expect it!! I like to read in my spare time and play scrabble with my dad. I hope this becomes a lively community. One thing I think every new member should do is introduce themselves and mention some things they like or don't like (see above for examples!).
